Saxophonist and composer Jack Pearce will release his debut album Church Lane (ÂR00183) on the 9th October 2026, introducing a road-tested quintet sound shaped by contemporary jazz, funk and soul, and the chemistry of a band forged through two years of touring across the UK.

Formed at Leeds Conservatoire, the Jack Pearce Quintet brings together Pearce (alto saxophone) with Sam Hughes (guitar), Joe Frost-Tesfaye (piano), Angus Haygarth (drums), and Dan Sanderson (bass). Across seven original tracks, Church Lane draws on the interplay and spontaneity developed by the group onstage, balancing tight ensemble writing with expansive improvisation and a strong melodic focus.

Recorded in the 12th-century church of St Mary’s in Kirkby Lonsdale, Church Lane takes much of its character from the space itself. The album’s warm resonance, sweeping atmosphere and melodic sensibility reflect the architecture and acoustics of the church, with its vaulted ceilings and stained-glass surroundings leaving a clear imprint on the sound. The result is a debut that captures both the immediacy of a live band and the sense of place that shaped the music. The first single (and album presale) will be available for presale on the 8th September, with the second single releasing on the 22nd September.
