Starting out busking on the streets of his hometown in 2017, Jack took quickly to the saxophone. Now a graduate of Leeds Conservatoire (2021-2024), where he studied jazz saxophone, Jack is rapidly building a reputation as a dynamic, exciting sax player. Drawing heavily on the influence of hard and post-bop players, while also infused with a strong sense of the rock music he grew up on, Jack effortlessly blends genres, creating a unique style that escapes the confines of conventional jazz.
He has performed at venues of all shapes and sizes, from headline slots at Kendall Calling to Cold War Bunkers in The Czech Republic. Notable performance venues include PizzaExpressLive Holburn, The Glasshouse, The Blue Lamp, Eel Pie Club, Chelsea Arts Club, Weyfest, Upton Blues Festival, Leyburn Jazz Fest, Zeffirelli's, Leeds Jazz Fest, Blue Note Nove Mesto, Comfort Festival and many more.
Jack has toured extensively with Hardwicke Circus from 2022. The Carlisle based band that “turn heads wherever they go with their witty songwriting and powerful horns” have taken him to work closely with music industry veteran Dave Robinson of Stiff Records fame, and legendary musician/producer Nick Lowe. Jack has released two albums with Hardwicke Circus. Performances with Madness, The Blockheads, Arno Carstens, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes as well as over 350 shows across the UK, Europe and South Africa have seen Jack gain experience beyond his years.
The Jack Pearce Quintet represents Jack's latest venture in music, showcasing his original compositions that pay homage to jazz traditions while injecting a fresh, inventive spirit. A band of Leeds Conservatoire Alumni, the Jack Pearce Quintet focuses on a fusion of melodic and technical excellence. Drawing influence from post-bop and 90s world fusion, the original compositions have a uniquely open and interactive approach. The bands strength is particularly apparent in a live setting. Countless hours have been dedicated to every facet of the music, then refined on the stage, culminating in an exciting musical experience. Strong rhythms underpin vibrant, playful melodies creating a fusion complimentary to both traditional and modern jazz. Described as “A band about to make its mark on UK jazz” following their first UK tour, the quintet are quickly building a reputation as an exciting young band on the up.
